Directions to Cabo Pulmo
Most of the visitors fly in Los Cabos Airport (SJD).
You will need to rent a car to drive to and around Cabo Pulmo, and there are all the regular car rental companies available at the airport.
There is a large supermarket (Soriana) close to the airport driving towards San José del Cabo. We advise you to buy all your supplies in San José.
Cabo Pulmo is a 50 miles / 80 kilometer drive (the last 7 miles / 10 kilometers are dirt road, suitable for all types of cars). We strongly advise you not to drive at night and watch out for cows on the road, even on the main Transpeninsular Highway. It takes approximately one hour and half from the airport to Cabo Pulmo.
Leaving the airport, drive North on Highway 1 for 30 miles and turn right just before a large bridge at a village called Las Cuevas. Follow the blue signs saying "Cabo Pulmo".
Continue straight for 10 miles (17 kms), passing the village of Santa Cruz and before entering La Ribera, turn right and follow the blue signs to Cabo Pulmo.
You are then 30 miles from Cabo Pulmo, 8 of which are dirt road.
From the airport, DO NOT drive the coast road which is sometimes shown on Google; it's in very poor condition and dirt road all the way (50 miles).
In Cabo Pulmo, all businesses and local attractions are at a walking distance. You will need to use your vehicle to El Arbolito beach (3 miles / 4.5 kilometers) and Los Frailes beach (5 miles/ 8 kilometers).
